Email address required. First Name. That's because, post-Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, LucasFilm has gone on a pretty heft hiatus — one that's been prolonged due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

However, fear not, there are still many adventures in the galaxy far, far away coming soon. After that, we have the Ander series bringing back characters from Rogue One, an Obi-Wan Kenobi series that will feature Darth Vader, and an Ahsoka show, which — surprise! There's a lot to get into. First, a note: we start by running down all the new Star Wars movies before going into the shows heading to Disney Plus.

Now, this is the way After what felt like an eternity of waiting, Disney finally announced who will direct the next Star Wars movie. In a video coinciding with the announcement, Jenkins talked up her history with the Air Force and her desire to create the "greatest fighter pilot movie ever". Nothing else is yet known about Rogue Squadron but the name will be familiar to many.

It is the title of an iconic series of video games that centered around Rebel pilots fighting back against the Empire. Location scouting took place in Scotland on a Star Wars movie, though that was previously thought to be regarding Taika Waititi's movie. Jenkins has also revealed that the story treatment for Rogue Squadron is almost finished.

So yeah, we've been working on it for a while. It's going great. I'm super excited about it. Jenkins was not the first person in line to direct the next Star Wars movie. Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D. Weiss were originally meant to spearhead a trilogy but were reportedly too busy making shows for Netflix after signing a nine-figure deal with the streaming service in There had been rumors that the upcoming movie would be set a few hundred years before the first movie in the prequels, in the time of the Old Republic.

The obvious source of inspiration here could be the Knights of the Old Republic video game series — and while Rogue Squadron won't tell that story, perhaps another of the following filmmakers' movies will.

No other details have yet been announced other than the movie will be heading to cinemas. Indeed, there's no release date, though Disney has two Star Wars movies penciled in the calendar — one for December and one for Chances are, Waititi's movie will be one of those.

Taika will have a lot on his plate in the meantime. The director is currently working on Thor: Love and Thunder , which will release in , and a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory animated series for Netflix. The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson must have impressed someone at Lucasfilm and Disney because, just before Star Wars: The Last Jedi hit cinemas, they announced that the filmmaker would be heading up a brand new Star Wars movie trilogy featuring "new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored.

We don't know very much about this new Star Wars movie trilogy, but Johnson will write and direct the first entry. He's previously spoken about the pitch that got him the job and, just to warn you, there's not much to it: "One story told over three movies. Go new places, meet new folks, come up with a new story to tell in the Star Wars universe.

Before then, though, you will be able to enjoy Johnson's Knives Out trilogy — yes, there are two more coming — on Netflix. And that goes for Krysty Wilson-Cairns as well. If anybody has any concerns about her level of commitment to Star Wars, she has the perfect answer to them. There is absolutely no doubt she is a fan because, as she pointed out Krysty Wilson-Cairns has made it clear she is a grade A nerd. In addition to having Darth Maul pajamas, she has also said that she has the best idea ever for a Portal movie, so her bona fides are not in question.

Honestly, owning Star Wars pajamas should maybe be a prerequisite for a screenwriting contract with Lucasfilm. Armchair Imagineer.
