Why do people think bioshock is scary
The splicers are a bit unsettling at first glance, but you and your Webley revolver quickly get used to it. Bioshock 2 has you play as an unstoppable badass from day 1, no scares there.
Both games do deal with the idea of hopelessness, genocide and suicide, drug abuse, and murder so if those upset you, you might be better off playing another game. As above, it's not a horror game in the traditional sense, though much of what goes on has gone on in Rapture could be described as "Horrific" by a lot of people. It's unsettling, macabre, sadistic, twisted, intriguing and thought provoking, but not a horror game in a true sense of the word.
Actually I dont think I am buying it now haha. I feel I wont enjoy especially with all the creepy parts. Originally posted by Duskhome :. Originally posted by spaceweezle :.
Its not scary at all. There are no jumpscares but there were some moments where the monsters come out of nowehere and attack you. That scared me like times but nothing more. Trust me i never play horror games cause i get scared too easy so if i survived bioshock which is not even a horror game to begin with without getting a heart attack you will definitely be able to play it without any problems.
You can't get every enhancement, even if you decide to kill all the Little Sisters and plunder their precious genetic treasure.
But you can take down Rapture's motley crew of drug-crazed mutants in so many ways, you'll never find yourself at a loss. And you can adjust the game's difficulty at any time.
BioShock is an intensely beautiful game. The textures and artwork are high-quality and are used very sparingly. There are no repeated rooms: Every single chamber in Rapture looks different from the last and has been intricately detailed with individualized set pieces. The late-'50s-style posters that decorate the walls add an authentic period ambience -- and also subtly foreshadow elements of the story.
Just don't be shocked if enemies creep up behind you while you're dallying. BioShock is one of the scariest games I've ever played, thanks both to the creepy atmosphere and a few very specifically chosen freak-out moments. One later level is the hideout of an artist-murderer whose macabre creations make Buffalo Bill's basement in The Silence of the Lambs look like Disneyland.
I've always been the type of person to be affected by what I don't see, and more what my mind conjures up. The locale, tone and sounds of Bioshock hit right to the heart of what I find scary. But I generally don't find films scary anyway as I can be disconnected from it, but because in games you're more a part of what's going on the effect is amplified.
I dunno why people don't enjoy being scared, in video games that is. It's one of the best things a game can achieve, since it shows that the developers have made a game immersive enough to affect you on a psychological level, to make you forget you're even playing a game.
To deprive yourself of that just means you're a pussy. I'm right there with you, pal. I played both BioShock on-and-off for about a year before I finished it. Same with Dead Space. But those games, while they scared the pants off of me, were two of my most rewarding gaming experiences of this generation. Play in the daytime, with other people, whatever you need to do to get through it. I don't think that Bioshock is particularly scare so much as it is tense.
The level of tension I had while playing was generally pretty high due to the atmosphere of the game. But seriously, once you get passed the first level, things do get a bit easier, but they remain equally as tense.
Bioshock definitely scared me for the first couple of hours, but the game gets a lot less frightening after the Medical Pavilion. But yeah, they do a good job of making you feel vulnerable and on-edge. Nothing special. It is pretty much a dumb-down version of System Shock 2. Of course, 12 year old kids who never actually played some of the classics back in the day claim it is the greatest game ever. Cancel X. Topic Archived Page 1 of 3 Next Last.
